How Odoo Pricing Works: Plans, Users and Total Cost · Calibre Consulting

Work out what Odoo will really cost you.

How Odoo's plans, per-user prices, Light Users, renewal terms and Success Packs add up, with October 2026 prices in Canadian dollars.

This guide helps you work out what Odoo will cost per year, beyond the monthly per-user price. The short answer: Odoo Enterprise is billed per user per month on one of three plans, and the headline figure is a first-year price. The total also depends on who counts as a user, which plan your hosting and customization needs require, renewal terms, and implementation.

It is for owners and finance leads checking a quote. Prices are as listed on odoo.com in October 2026, in Canadian dollars (CAD) before taxes, as shown to a visitor in Canada. Product behaviour was checked on Odoo 19 and 20.

Before you start

The three plans and what each allows

The pricing page says installing Studio or adding companies switches a database to Custom automatically.

Why the first-year price is lower

The large figures on the pricing page are discounted: CAD 35.20 for Standard and CAD 57.90 for Custom on yearly billing. A footnote limits the discount to 12 months and to the initial users ordered.

For ten Standard users on yearly billing, the first year comes to CAD 4,224 (10 x 35.20 x 12). The second year at list price is CAD 5,280 (10 x 44.00 x 12),. Budget from the second-year figure.

Who counts as a paying user

Odoo's pricing page counts anyone with access to the back end who creates, views or edits documents, including employees who only record expenses or timesheets and outside accountants. It also lists an employee record with no linked user as a paying user. Customers and suppliers using the portal, and website visitors placing orders, are free.

Light Users are listed at CAD 12.90 per month, quoted only through an Odoo advisor, for limited tasks such as their own time off, expenses and attendance, barcode operations, Point of Sale and the manufacturing shop floor.

The Enterprise Subscription Agreement (version 13, dated 24 September 2026) defines a Light User as a user marked Light, or an active employee record not linked to an active internal user, but only where your version supports it. The software shows the difference:

So employee records kept for an attendance kiosk can start to count when you move to Odoo 20, even if those people have portal access. Archived employee records are not counted. The pricing page gives no version condition, so ask Odoo to confirm in writing how your contract treats them.

Contract terms that change the bill

Version upgrades are included. Implementation, Odoo.sh hosting and in-app purchase credits, such as SMS, are not.

What implementation costs on top

You can implement Odoo yourself, buy a Success Pack, or hire a partner. Odoo points companies under 50 employees to Success Packs and larger ones to partners. Pack prices in CAD, returning and new customers:

The 15% discount applies to a new customer's first pack only, and the order form says pack hours expire after one year. Onsite visits add travel costs, and custom development by Odoo is charged per consulting day. A recommendation: buy hours against a written list of the processes to configure, because unused hours lapse.

Check your quote

  1. Open the Settings app. The Users section shows your number of Active Users, which counts internal users only. Compare it with the quote.
  2. Open the Employees app, switch to the list view, show the optional Related User column, and count active employees where it is empty. On Odoo 20 these can count as Light Users, and each user's Role, on the Access Rights tab, shows Light, User or Administrator.
  3. Confirm the plan fits: Standard does not cover Studio, multi-company, the API or self-hosting.
  4. Find the year-two price, the term length and the last date to give notice before renewal.
  5. Check that implementation shows hours, expiry and scope, and that Odoo.sh hosting appears if you will use it.

Steps verified on Odoo 19 and 20. Menus and labels can differ on other versions.

Common questions

How much does Odoo cost per user?

As listed on odoo.com in October 2026, Standard is CAD 44.00 per user per month on yearly billing and Custom is CAD 73.00. The first year is discounted to CAD 35.20 and CAD 57.90 for the users ordered at the start.

Do portal users count toward the Odoo subscription?

No. Customers and suppliers who sign in through the portal to see their own documents are not paying users. Anyone with back-end access to create, view or edit documents is.

Do employee records without a login cost money in Odoo?

The Enterprise Subscription Agreement counts them as Light Users where your version supports it. Odoo 20 counts active employees with no internal user, while Odoo 19 has no such count, so confirm with Odoo how your contract treats them.

Does the Odoo Standard plan allow self-hosting?

No. Standard runs on Odoo Online only. Odoo.sh and on-premise hosting need the Custom plan, and Odoo.sh hosting is billed on top of the licence.

How much is an Odoo Success Pack?

As listed in October 2026, packs run from CAD 850 for 4 hours to CAD 36,500 for 200 hours, with 15% off a new customer's first pack. Pack hours expire after one year.
